This book is very good at what it states in the title

This book is very good at what it states in the title, how to press a heavy kettlebell. what it is not is a book to teach you from scratch how to use a kettlebell. There are other sources for that, but if you have your basics down and wish to put up a big bell in a single press, this book is laser focused to get you there.

For background, and to let the reader of this review know, I have been using kettlebells since 2001, mostly under the RKC templates as formatted by Pavel at that time, and I continue to follow him and his teachings at his new organization. I did do the “Enter the Kettlerbell” program as written and today follow mostly the “Simple and Sinister” with some additional moves to fill in the gaps. While I could do the 5 ladders and five rungs with a 24kg bell from the ETK program, I could not make the jump to the 32kg bell.

Following this program, I can now press the 32kg with either arm, and after only 4 weeks (one cycle) of the 12 week (three cycles) program. This is basically because of the background I have, and the program focusing on all of the elements that go into a press in different ways. For example, doing squats, which to the uninitiated might seem like a waste of time when you are trying to press big. But the squat forces you to work on your tension and abdominal compression, all which translate into strength enhancement. I have read all of this before in other book (mostly from Pavel), but this book puts it all together, and it works.

To use this program, you must already know how to do a clean and military press (both single and two handed), a front squat, a get up, and understand the tension skills of the hardstyle lock. If you are not yet there, get there with other reference material. If you have already learned those skills, and wish to press a single big bell, then this book will get you there if you just follow the program.

This book will turn you into a pressing phenom! After the first 5 weeks, I went from pressing a 36kg to a 40kg at twice the velocity. I'm now approaching my 9th week, and I can comfortably press a 32kg for sets of 5. Aside from the strength gains, I've noticed a significant increase in lean mass (hello, delts), dropped five pounds without a change in diet, and I have a grip that could rip Popeye's arm clean off. Can't wait to see what the rest of this program has in store for me!
